Adding and Editing Form Fields has been moved to our new Dashboard back end.
To get started, you can either click "Admin Menu - Forms" and click "Fields" next to any form, or click "Go to Field Editor" when editing any form:
When you are creating a new form, there's a new button "Create and Setup Fields" that will take you to the Field Editor right away. You will also get a popup to automatically add the first field.
Click here for descriptions about what all the fields do.
- Field Type - The type of question it is that you're asking and trying to get an answer to.
- General - Group of options for every form field:
- Label - The question that you're asking/name of the field.
- Width - Default is 200px wide. Each line of form fields can go up to 800px wide. Once you get to 800px, the system will no longer allow you to add more fields to that row.
- Group - Click here for information about Form Groups and Form Logic.
- Description - A block of information or a picture that will show under the form field.
- Visible and Required For - This section allows you to customize the form for different groups of people:
- Public - Anyone that is NOT logged in to the site.
- Specific People - By default, everyone that IS logged in to the site. You can restrict it more by only checking certain tags and/or account types below.
- Admin - Anyone with Admin permissions to access forms.
- Options - shows up for Pulldown Selections, Radio Selections, Multiple Checkboxes, and Choose Multiple Quantities (anything where there is a list to choose from):
- Is Required? - for Pulldown and Radio Selection fields, checking this box will add a special option to be used when a field is required. Checking this box prevents the first option from being anything other than "-1".
- Name (Unique) - The name of the option, shown both to admins and front end users. Please note that this field ONLY allows letters and numbers. If you need to use any special characters, make sure to use the...
- Label (Optional) - This will display an optional override display name that does accept special characters.
If you are using any kind of Payment Field, you will have extra options to set the value and charge type. If using a payment field with multiple options, each choice will have its own value and charge type in the Options tab.
Once you have added your first field, you'll see all the places where you can add more fields:
Clicking the green plus sign will give you the option to add another field. If you don't see a green box, then the field is already 800px wide and you cannot add a new field there.
Some more options in the top right corner of the field box:
- Clicking the left-most button will allow you to drag and drop the form field and move it elsewhere on the form.
- The middle button allows you to clone this field. You must click and then drag to where you want to clone the field.
- The pencil icon on the right will open the edit field box to make any changes.
