To create a new mail to send to everyone in your synagogue, or to target a specific group of people, go to the Admin Menu, click on Mail and then "Create New Mail."
On Step One, select email, make sure to select the Announcement mailing list, and then select continue.
When you come to Step Two, a mailing list of everyone subscribed to the Announcement list will automatically load. If you want to send this mail to everyone, simply click continue on the top right side.
However, if you want to target only a specific group of people, you must first clear the list, and then click on Advanced Targeting.
Once you open Advanced Targeting, you can customize your list using a number of different filters: by Account Type, Minyan, Person Type, Age Range, Tag, Email or Mailing Address status, and by enrollment in a course (school module only). Once you have set your filter, click on "Add This Filter to Recipient List" to generate your recipients.
Step Three gives you several options for the mailing:
- PDF Letter Head: if you have a letter head loaded in My Lists -> Template Text, you can attach it here.
- Use Word Template: you can generate the mailing as a word document instead of a PDF. For more info about Word Templates, view the webinar at the bottom of this page.
- Confirmation Email address: will send the paper mail as a PDF to this email address.
- Post Message to Blog: If your site has a CMS page set to be a blog, you can post this email as a post on that page.
- Tag: If you use mail tags, you can tag your mailing here.
Step Four is the body of your message - you can use the list of tags on the left to personalize your mailing. Tags like [first_name] will address the mailing to the recipient, and the address tags will make sure the recipient is addressed properly.
Step Six is your confirmation page, where you can review the message. If you need to make an adjustment, simply click on "Step 4: Message" on the top and you can edit the text. Once you are set, click "download" to complete and have the letters emailed to you as a PDF.
