There are two ways to create a new web page:
- Click on Start Editing, then Add New Page, or
- Go to Admin Menu > CMS Pages and click on New Page.
Either method will take you to the following screen:
- Internal Name: Name that will appear to the Admin in the list of CMS pages.
- Title: This will be the title of the page. The name will appear in the web browser tab. If the Title and Internal Name are the same, you can leave this field blank
- URL: The web address of your new page. You do not need to enter your shul's entire site address - simply begin with a / (slash character) and type the page name you want to use with it. If you leave this field blank, the system will automatically generate a url based on your Internal Name.
- Page Template: If you have created multiple page templates, you can specify which one to use with this field.
- Header Slider: Some web admins like to create hero images (banners) for inner pages. This field allows you to choose which slider to use for a particular page's hero.
- Privacy - The privacy dropdown will allow the admin to specify who will be able to view the page. The following options are available:
- Public: The page will be visible to everyone who accesses the site. Note that only Public pages will show up in site searches.
- Logged In Only: Allows the admin to restrict access to the page to only those people who are logged in to the site. You can further restrict this to logged in people with specific tags.
- CMS Admins Only: Only admins with the CMS permission can access the page.
- Admin Tags - Allows you to give people who don't have the CMS permission access to edit the page based on a tag. For instance, you can create a tag for your board of directors, and create pages that only board members (and CMS admins) can access.
- Sidebar(s):
- Show Global Sidebar: By default, the site sidebar will always be shown when creating a new page.
- No Sidebar: Removes the sidebar from this page and creates a wider area for page content.
- Unique Sidebars: Allows you to modify the global sidebar by adding/removing sections on this page only (no other pages will be affected).
- Page Type:
- Normal: Creates a typical web page.
- Blog/News: Formatted like a blog, showing the most recent posts at the top.
- Redirect: allows you to redirect a page elsewhere. A common use for redirects is when you want to include a page from another website (like your local federation or a social service agency) in your site navigation.
- Publish - Make the page public or leave in draft mode. Note that drafts will not appear in site searches. Admins can find them by going to Admin Menu > CMS Pages.
- Search Engines: Determines whether a public, published page will appear in site searches.
