Introduction
The Stripe Reader M2 connects with iOS devices such, as iPhone and iPad, running ShulCloud Admin App 3.0 or later, via Bluetooth to wirelessly provide the ability to collect credit card payments via tap, chip, and magnetic strip. The Tap to pay option is available with XR or later versions and requires iOS 16. Android support for the Reader M2 is not yet available.
Turning the M2 On and Off
Turn on the Stripe Reader M2 by pressing and releasing the power button. The status LEDs turn on for 2 seconds and the M2 beeps three times (one long, two short).
Turn off the reader manually by pressing and holding the power button for four seconds. When the reader turns off, the four LEDs light up and then turn off one by one to indicate it has turned off.
You don’t need to turn off the reader to conserve power during short periods of non-use, as it has a standby mode. After 10 hours of inactivity, a connected M2 turns off.
Connecting Stripe M2 Reader to Your Mobile Device
Once powered on, the M2 waits for a Bluetooth connection for five minutes before turning off. The Bluetooth connection is managed by ShulCloud Admin App, not the Bluetooth settings screen on your mobile device. You connect by choosing the M2 in the Add Transaction flow.
When first connected to the Admin App, the M2's status LEDs on top of the reader flash four times. While connected, the first status light flashes at five second intervals.
To connect your M2 to a different device, make sure to first disconnect, as it can be connected to only one device at a time. The easiest way is to simply turn off your connected device's Bluetooth. The M2 will then appear as available in the other device's list of nearby readers.
Charging and Battery Status
When you turn on the M2, the number of lights shown indicate the charge remaining. Press and release quickly to check the charge level when already powered on. The Stripe Reader M2 is charged using a USB-C cable. When charging, the M2 shows the approaching level of charge by blinking.
