You can create an email that can go out to anyone observing a yahrzeit in a specific time frame.
Go to Admin Menu -> Mail, and then Create New Mail. From the list of options, select "Lifecycles." A type of lifecycle and a date range will pop up. Make sure to select yahrzeit and the date range you're looking for. Keep the selection on "Single mail per lifecycle" and click on continue:
Step two allows you to specify who will get this email. You can choose to send to anyone in that time frame by clicking "Add All Subscribers" or you can target the recipient list by clicking "Advanced Targeting" and choosing your filters:
Step Three gives you several options for the mailing:
- Type of Email: Plain Text (no formatting options), Rich Text (allows you to adjust the text, add images, and format the email in many different ways) or HTML Responsive Email (gives you the option of using a template with advanced functionality built in).
- Confirmation Email Address: will send a confirmation message once the email is complete.
- Override Email: will send every single email to this address instead of the recipient list specified in Step 2.
- Post Message to Blog: If your site has a CMS page set to be a blog, you can post this email as a post on that page.
- Delayed Send: Allows you to decide if you want to start processing the mail immediately or schedule it to start processing later.
- Tag: If you use mail tags, you can tag your mailing here.
Step four is where you add the body of your yahrzeit message. There are over a dozen different lifecycle tags on the left side that you can use to personalize the email to the recipient. You can add the name of the deceased, the observance date, even prayer service times (if you have them in your site):
If you have signed up to participate in the Jewish Ad Network, you will see the option to insert ads or not on Step Five. You can choose where on the email you want the ad displayed, or you can choose to leave ads out of the email.
Step Six is your confirmation page. You can review the subject, text, email sended and mail tags. If you need to make an adjustment, simply click on "Step 4: Message" on the top and you can edit the email. You can also send yourself a test email, which will take one random recipient and send you their email as if you were them. If you send yourself more than one test email, you will continue to receive emails for the same recipient.
Clicking on send will start processing your email and then send. You can then go back to the main mail page, and next to your completed mailing, you can see options for more details or cloning. Clicking more details will give you information about how many people received the email, bounces, and clicks. Clicking clone will allow you to recreate your email to send again.
