The File Manager allows you to upload pictures and files that you can display and link to in your emails and across your site. The File Manager also links to your Photo and Audio Galleries (learn more about galleries here.
Please note that any files uploaded to this area are publicly viewable and can be found in search engine results. The File Manager should not be used to store private/confidential files, any files containing PII (Personally Identifiable Information) or anything else that you would not want the public to see.
When you open Admin Menu - Files, you'll see an overview of all of the files you have uploaded to your site:
- The far left shows your Admin Menu. It functions the same as when the menu is listed on the top of your page.
- The middle column is a list of all of your folders, listed alphabetically. Click any folder to view its contents. To go back to the top level, click the top folder with the /.
- The main area shows a thumbnail of each item. If the file is a picture, you will see a preview of that picture. Word documents and PDFs will be indicated, but since they are not pictures, you cannot preview the document, nor can you post them to display like pictures.
The top bar has three functions built in:
- Search allows you to find a file by name.
- The view changer allows you to see a list of all of the files instead of the thumbnails. If you switch to list view, you can filter the list alphabetically, by size, or by upload date.
- The menu on the far right allows you to create a new folder or upload files. Based on your location in the File Manager, there may be more options as well.
This new file manager allows you to rename or move files and folders. To do that, right-click on the file or folder you want to rename or move, select "rename" and type in the new name, or "move" and then select the folder you want to move it to. PLEASE NOTE: ANY LINKS POINTING TO THE FILE OR FOLDER IN ITS' CURRENT LOCATION WILL NOT WORK AFTER YOU RENAME OR MOVE THE FILE OR FOLDER. Renaming or moving the file or folder change the link, so you will need to MANUALLY fix the link.
