Introduction
A Gateway facilitates the transfer of financial information, such as payment details, to a payment processor. Once the payment details are conveyed, the payment processor takes over by handling the actual transaction. This process involves transferring the specified funds from the congregant's account into the organization's bank account. The Gateway ensures the payment data is delivered safely and efficiently, while the processor completes the financial transaction, ensuring a smooth transfer of funds.
The initial step in configuring payment processing is to request a Gateway by submitting a Merchant Application. Completing this form will automatically generate a Gateway on your ShulCloud account and activate the built-in donation page.
The Merchant Application can be found in the sidebar navigation under Extras. In the application admins will fill out the following information:
- Shul Information
- Shul Bank Account
- Controlling Officer
- Payment Processing Terms and Conditions

Gateway Fees
Any congregation using Shulware Integrated Payments (SIP) is charged a fee. Some congregations choose to pass along these fees to their members and donors to cover the cost. Online payment fee options provide flexibility and control by allowing shuls and organizations to manage transaction costs, customize payment processes, and adapt charge type gateway fee overrides for specific needs, ultimately enhancing financial efficiency.
