ShulCloud has implemented a consent management tool called Usercentrics as part of compliance with GDPR (European Union General Data Protection Regulation) and CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) laws. These laws require websites to provide users with control over certain activity tracking technology ("cookies" in web parlance). This new feature replaces the previous "EU Cookie Disclosure" feature shown in Settings. This new tool is necessarily deployed on all sites and there is nothing to configure for your site.
The first time a visitor visits a ShulCloud-hosted site, they will see a pop-up requesting consent:
The visitor can choose to Accept All or Deny. If the visitor choses Deny, only those cookies necessary for proper operation of the site will be created. If visitor choose Accept All, all cookies used by the site will be created. This user preference can be changed one of two ways:
1. Clicking the thumbprint widget located in the bottom left corner of the screen;
OR
2. Clearing the browser's cookies
When clicked, a Privacy Settings pop-up opens:
Here the visitor can view the possible cookies, by category or service name, and turn on or off specific non-essential cookies. The visitor can then click Save Settings to record individualized choices. The visitor can also again choose either Deny or Accept All to consent to minimal or all cookie use.
A Note About the Thumbnail Widget
The initial release will display the thumbnail widget in the lower left corner of the screen, as described above. We are aware that it will show on pages printed from the browser and that it could possibly interfere with the lefthand side menus, requiring scrolling to see the desired menu item. In our next release, the thumbnail widget will be replaced by a "Privacy Settings" link in the footer.
