Create dynamic groups to help segment your existing Subscriber Lists (Admin Menu>Subscriber Lists). In the new Email Marketing Feature, you will use Groups within the Communications Center to target your subscribers.
Groups are dynamic, meaning that the criteria defined for each group will be referenced at the time an email is sent, rather than at the time an email is created. This allows you to continue using groups over time, rather than re-defining a group each time you draft an email communication.
Groups also allow admins to email parents of children within Email Marketing.
Creating Groups
- Navigate to Communications>Groups in the sidebar navigation.
-
Click on the Create Group button on the right side of the Groups Dashboard.
-
Enter a group name (required). A description for the group and adding communication tags to the group are optional.
Groups are building blocks of recipients to include or exclude from a communication.
Group Definition
In the Group Definition area, conditions and condition blocks are used to determine people who meet the criteria of the group. There are two kinds of criteria to use: AND & OR.
- AND = Criteria that must be met in order to be part of the group; this is a limiting feature
- OR = Criteria can be met along with other criteria to be part of the group; this will generally give a larger pool of people
- Adding a Condition, means that there is more than one set of criteria to be in place.
- Adding a Condition Block means that a second set of criteria will be evaluated when selecting members of the group after the first level of criteria has been met.
